How do I know if I am a candidate for ESWL?
Unfortunately, not everyone is a candidate for ESWL. The following conditions may require special consideration:

-Your kidney stone cannot be seen by an X-ray
-Your weight exceeds 397 lbs.
-Your height exceeds 6’6”
-There is a possibility that you are pregnant
-The stone-containing kidney has little or no function
-You have an uncontrolled urinary infection

If you meet one or more of these conditions, your urologist will discuss other available treatments with you.
